Coloring dreads

My dreads are only a few months old,and I'm sure it is too early to dye them, but I do want to experiment later down the road. I'm really curious, but is hair dye dangerous for dreads? Are there more natural dyes or products to use? I wonder if there are any serious negative effects. If I dyed my hair,I'd only do it once and then let the rest stay natural, so I could have that two-toned look.

henna is safer any dyes even natural like henna can be hard to rinse ut and can cause harm its tricky just adding color with wraps peyote sleeves beads etc might be all the experimenting you need but if u do dcide to try coloring them remember only the outter layer needs clor so dont try to work it in dep where its hard to get out

i used to know a (very strange) guy who had a single racoon tail striped dread that was kinda cool
