I'm looking to buy some shampoo and was curious. What type is better for starting your natural dreads, liquid or bar?

when you're first starting out, you want to use liquid. It's easier and gentler on your scalp than a bar would be. As theydevelopeand are form, you could switch to a bar. I used liquid Dr. B's for the first 4 years. I'd say you an switch to a bar after 6 months to a year. The up side to a bar is that you can focus on just scrubbing your scalp. But when they are still forming, it's fine to get liquid soap in your locks. Just make sure you rinse it out really well
