Natural dreads, at one month.

So my comb has been in the garbage for about one month now. I've been washing my hair with Dr. Bronners only, no conditioner, about once every three days. I've been wearing a wool hat on and off, and have a wool sweater wrapped around my pillow case for when I sleep at night. My hair does not seem any knottier than when I started this process, and I would wonder if I am doing something wrong, or if this is normal? My hair is loosely curly, and slightly damaged from dying it in the past so I would think I'd see some kind of progress at this point. I'm not expecting baby dreads this early on or anything, I would just expect my hair to be a bit knottier than it was, which it isn't. Any advice is absolutely appreciated because I really want to go about this the right way!

Thanks so much.

My advice: don't buy a new comb.I was skeptical about my straight hair dreading, but a little more than two months in and my hair texture has changed, it's sectioned off, and I feel like a lion.Just be patient :)

It will happen, trust me. :) Wait another month and see what happens. Also - I don't know if this is your habit, but be careful not to absent-mindedly comb your fingers through your hair. That can loosen any beginning knots.
