Hair Loss!

Well I guess it isn't really hair loss, just loss of length. It has been about two months since I started letting my hair naturally dread. Some dreads are starting to form and I am excited! But I was just wondering if they are supposed to be so short? The pieces that turned into dreads have lost a lot of length. Just wondering if this will happen to my whole head? Thanks. :)

or you could be like me and your hair will take a long time to knot. my hair was just past my shoulders a year ago when i stopped brushing and now its down to my elbows. i can't wait for mine to shrink up. its driving me nuts!
