u might have noticed siter trasfic increasing well the new friont page is working were not there yet but for the search term dreadlocks (a very very hard 1 to target) we moved up to the 1st page on google were at number 8 i thinkim gonna wait another 2 weeks see if it gets better and then try another adgustment to get to number 1we still need a page that works as well for dreadsif we even can gain 2 more positions we can make a huuuuge differenceso keep linking to us on your pages and blogs specificly linking those words dreadlocks and or dreads or other more specific terms to direct pages like dread wax removal to the dread wax removal threadspart of how google ranks u is if your concidered an expert on the subject by having many links on related sites to specific topics making u an expert refferenceanyway its huge that we are on the 1st page of google for that dreadlocks search nowif we move up to just number 5 things will explode and we'll have probly 20 times more traficalso anyone whod like to do a redesign on the front page (look only not content) or work on other splash pages to target other search terms lets talkonce we have a spiffier look on the front page i can turn it into a template so all other splash pages will look and feel the same just with different text

I found this place by searching "dreadlocks forum" on google. It was number one or number two on the list, if I remember correctly.Also, you can use Google Analytics to spyder the site and pick out keywords for your meta tags, among other things. I used it on my business website and it picked out over 300 new keywords for me, which more than doubled my search base and site visitors. It's also helpful to make sure you have as many of those keywords as possible, sometimes even repeated, in the title of the site. Not sure whether or not you use html but if you do I can help you with all that if you need it.Hope that helps.

Google position is determined by relevance to the search and site traffic. Relevance is determined by whether or not a combination of meta keywords and site content are literally relevant to the search. Meaning, if you search for the word "dreadlock" its going to post the website most relevant to that search at the top of the list. It means all over the site, particularly in the meta tags and the site title itself (what shows at the top of your web browser, that's the title) determine what rank you get. So if you have a lot of linked pages about dreadlocks, and if the word dreadlock is repeated hundreds (maybe even thousands, depending on the word popularity in searches) of times, you'll get good ranking. It won't work if it's just a picture that has the word dreadlock on it, because it's basically just robots going through your site. The robots can read the words, but they don't technically know what the picture is of, if that makes any sense at all... or did I just confuse everyone in Search Engine Optimization 101?Basically, you're ranking for a search of the word "dreadlock" is based on how many times you have the word "dreadlock" in the meta tags, the site title, and the website itself, compared to other websites that have the word "dreadlock" in their website. So technically speaking, if a website generated more traffic than you, and had the word "dreadlock" on the pages more often, it would be higher ranking that you. Even if it was literally just a blank white page with the word "dreadlock" written hundreds of thousands of times...

actualy no they penalize for keyword spammingtherews a whole science to itand it changes all the time words get weight, promonince and countu do not want the word repeatted too many times, you want an average prominence of 56-65% (meannibng towards the beginning of the page) titles weighs most keywords are ignored by google completely descritions next then headers link tecxt link url text body textcomments and image alt tags are ignotred unless theyre to penalize ubutoptimizing your page only counts for 4% of the rankingdomain name registeation length (5-10 years as aposed to 1-2_0 backlinks (links to the sitew) quality backlinks (links containing leywords and on relevant sites especialy high ranking sites)u do not want repeatted keywords in the tittttteu dwant 1.5-2 keyword retpetitions in the description link text and headers u want 5-7 repeats in the body nerar the top u want 350-750 words on the pagethats optimalthe front page is as perfgectly optimized as i can get it based on slightly out of date info (would cost too much to update )now links here are the most important thingstarting blogs about dreads with dreadlocks as linking text (once or twice per blog)\

oh and dreadlocks forums is far easier to target and we do great with that but single word keywords are very hard but as an example 1500 searches for dreadlocks forums at position 1 or 2 will being in 800 visits but dreadlocks in the same time period would get 45,000 searches and at possition 10 bring in only 110moving up to position 5 could mean 10,000 more hits or morethats why that single word search terms both hard and important

That's pretty much correct. I was speaking mostly in technicalities to try to explain it easier, but you seemed to explain it much more simply than I ever could LOL!And yeah, phrase keywords tend to do a lot better than single word keywords. Don't really know why : /Also, rather than trying to single out tougher keywords, maybe put more emphasis on the keywords that don't get as many hits so you get better ranking with those instead? Although, I'm guessing you prolly wanna knock dreadheadHQ and knottyboy outta the water, here. hehe.. xD

yea thats why dominating that single keywords so important we do very very well under many keywords (google dreadheadhq lock docta or knotty jonny clean even haha also interlocking dreadlocks crocheting dreadlocks hell hundreds of key phrases we do great in)why are single words harder? google sex then google sex addiction ignore everything but the number of pages that come upsex could be 21 billion while sex addiction could be 200 thousandthats why single word keywords are sooo much harder to target

getting more and more links to us will help

oh another thing that will help somewhat is if every 1 of u installs both the google and alexa toolbars
each 1 reports to a ranking service how much u use the site
google and other search engines use these trafic ranks somehow in theyre calculations )(but theyre very mysterios about almost everything they use to rank u)


concidering those sites have been around 10 years and weve been around 1 we are doing better then expected
oh mandy if u wanna take a look at what u cando on this or any of my other sites id appreciate it especialy on the sites that arent doing so well
