Hello there people
For the past few months I've been washing my hair using baking soda, but 4 days ago I came by this article:
http://blog.kanelstrand.com/2014/01/baking-soda-destroyed-my-hair.html
It states that the PH levels of baking soda and ACV will eventually mess up your hair. I personally have felt my hair to be very dried out and also see a bunch of hair in my shower drain, each time I've washed my hair.
So for 3 days I've used rye flour instead, as suggested by the article author. My hair certainly feels and looks a bit healthier, but I'm not really a big fan of it. It's quite a lot more work you have to go through, seeing as some of the small husk pieces will stay in your hair. I also don't feel that this method of washing my hair promotes the growth of dreadlocks in any way. It feels like I've used an ordinary shampoo in terms of how my hair feels afterwards.
So I'd like to know your take on the article and if you might have other recommendations as to what products I can use?
I'm also having some issues even getting my hair to lock just a tiny tiny bit, so perhaps someone could clarify how I should wash my hair? I suspect my friend and I are both doing it wrong, as none of us have seen any progress over the past few months.
NOTE: My friend's hair is fairly long, while my own is still pretty short. I used to be bald, so I have got a long way to go.
Here are pictures of my hair currently of today:
