Hey Dreadlockssite, I'm 16 years old and I want to start neglect dreading. I have thick hair and I love dreads. I prefer the look of neglect dreads and I have also been told they are faster than the other methods.

What are some tips for neglect dreads? I hardly wash my hair, about once or twice a week and I used to condition it everyday. Now that I want neglect dreads, I have stopped conditioning my hair. Will I need to do anything or just let it knot on its own? I heard the wool hat method works a bit.

Here's a picture of what my hair looks like at the moment. It's pretty short but it will grow eventually. it's thick and a bit wavy. It goes down past my eyes when it's straight. *Fucked up face*

Hi Nathan, welcome to the site :) dreads love water, so washing your hair two, or three if you can, times a week will be great for your dreading progress. You can use the wool-rubbing method, but it isn't necessary at all. It's one of those things some people swear helps, and others swear doesn't make a difference, so personal choice. It'll knot on its own either way.

Okay, so I'll wash it more often, probably two to three times a week. What shampoo do you recommend I use?
