Welcome. There is a lot of bad info out there. I fell for the palm rolling and root rubbing scam when I first started. From experience, I'd recommend you stop. I have a video on my page showing what only 2 weeks of palm rolling does to your locks.

As for the crochet hook... There is really no worse thing that can be done to locks. Some will tell you that wax is worse. Wax can be washed out given a detergent and tons of scrubbing. The damage that even gentle cocheting does can't be healed. Your locks can recover over time. But the way crocheting damages hair, it creates so many more frizzy hairs that it seems to require more work. Given time, they will neaten themselves up. There's no way to speed up the process of locking. Mature locks take around a year to form no matter what

welcome but crochets extremelt=y bad and rubbing does damage tio you shouldnt be doing either at all
