Welcome. Eagle's right about the hook. The only thing worse for locks is a felting needle. Even wax is better, because it can be scrubbed out. The damage from even 1 session with a hook is permanent and serious. It delays progress by about 6 months. Continued crocheting causes locks to become so weak that they have a high probability of snapping in half under their own weight
