"That shampoo looks like it would be ok for straight hair, but it has tons of coconut in it as well as a lot glycerin.  Both of those ingredients will make the few locks you have slick and not knot well.  "

i combed my dreads out yet again. I am very sad but at the same time im not sure it was the right time to have them. It is very hard to try to make the transition and change when surrounded by people who dont understand. Ive made a post about this before, about my boyfriend not liking my dreads. he want non supportive or anything, he just didnt care. He didnt get excited about the loops and all the changes in my hair like i did and i didnt really have anyone to share those exciting moments…

Last night i combed out a little section of my hair. I was thinking about taking my dreads out and wanted to see if it was possible. Im thinking about looking for a full time job, and thought it would be easier to do so with out my dreads. I know i know.. i shouldnt compromise my hair for a job. part time just isnt paying enough for everything i need. and id like to find a monday-friday so i wouldnt have to work saturdays so i could spend time with my boyfriend.

Now that ive thought…

Its about that 2 month mark :D

Posted on April 1, 2012 at 2:25pm 2 Comments

Well its been around 2 months.. i dont remember the day exactly because it took me a while to TnR my whole head.. so around the beg. of the month.

Ive notied some significant shrinking. A lot of them got really really loopy, and like crawled up on them selves. Now they are really short and have like a ball at the end. One shrunk so much that it looked like a big fat zig zag.. i wraped it with some yarn a couple days ago. I should have taken a picture fist.. darn it.

The dreads…

If the color is lifting with the BS wash that is great! Usually that is quite normal...one of the reasons I don't use it so much anymore (it fades my red). If you can handle the fading okay in this way and you feel it is getting sufficently light, stay with that. The quicker way is much more damaging and you must recolor after you pull out the color, as it leaves it a crazy, not believable color after. I would say, just be very careful of chlorine. Chlorine is very damaging and is one of the only substances that will not come out of the hair (even with stripping). It can turn the hair plastic-y and brittle if you subject the hair to it repeatedly. Since we don't trim our hair...it could be a real problem for you. Best solution is to always wash or atleast rinse the hair thoroughly after you swim in a pool. Hope that helps you! Anything else I can answer, please let me know. Much love <3

Lindsey, I am so sorry that you had a question so long ago!! I was away tending to some health issues and gone far longer than I intended...I apologize! Do you still need the question answered or is everything ok? There is a way to remove color, complicated by doable. Hope to hear from you...again, I am so sorry! <3
