You sound like a person who was meant for dreads, welcome Lauren. Your twist & rip sections WILL loosen & must loosen in order to go on their wacky journey of shrinking, looping etc. (never re-twist or tighten) Just sit back and enjoy the fun ride. Peace
Welcome to the community fellow Canuck. Hope you show us a picture of your almost 2 year old dreads. When you do your baking soda wash, give a rinse with 1-2 capfuls of Apple cider Vinegar to 5 cups of water. This will balance the hairs PH and condition at the same time.
