Natural dreading!

Introduce Yourself

Hi! I am just 5 days into natural dreads and the wind has helped me a lot. I go out and turn my head upside down and shake my hair around.Of course my hair is waist length so it has tangled quickly.

Thank you Personal Jesus! My daughter goes to UNT now and I will be joining her in the fall. She has dreads too. Hers were backcombed in but she uses no product and they are awesome.

Introduce Yourself

Hello! I am starting my second set of dreads as of April 20, 2011. I am growing natural, organic dreads or neglect or whatever. My first set about 5 years ago was with backcombing and horrible petroleum product and also wax. HORRIBLE! So I cut them off. Then I grew my hair to my waist and am starting over.

I will be leaving my goat farm and moving to go to art school this fall. Lots of dreadlocks at the University of North Texas with all the muscians and artists. It is quite the artist colony.

My Natural Dreads Timeline-Dreadlocks can form fast with neglect

Member Journals and Timelines

I am just 4 days into not combing my hair and I have lots of tangles and loops already. I did not expect it to happen this fast either. My hair is quite long andI keep going out in the wind so I am sure that helps a lot. Anyway, your hair is coming along great. Cute little dreadies!

Speeding Up Natural DreadLocks Creation Theory

Dreading Methods

It has been windy here in Texas for a good spell now. I have outside chores and now that I am allowing my hair to dread. I don't contain it in a protective hairstyle anymore such as a braid or put up in a clip. I quit combing my hair as of April 20, 2011 and I have LOTS of tangles right now. I go outside and turn my head upside down, anything to expose all my head area to the wind. My waist length hair is already dreaded and shrinking and I have fine, silky, caucasianhair.

Dread Maintenance

I have used Suave Naturals Coconut shampoo from the dollar store for 4 years and my hair does well with it. I will keep using it even thoughI am starting natural dreads now.My hairwill tangle just fine because I have quit using the condition that goes with this shampoo.
