To Bang or not to Bang?

General Questions

Thank you all so much for the support and advice !!

As far as my job goes, I work at a Yoga studio that just recently hired me knowing I have dreads;

and in the Yoga world, I'm pretty sure its accepted; and I do plan on being a yoga teacher along side with a degree in Nutrition.

But ultimately ya'll are right about it being how I feel, and if they are going to dread I should just let em dread. I think I'm being hesitant because I feel like they are two very different looks in a way; the softer like everyone notices and then the softer.

I'm not really worried about what other people think, I just am hoping I like the way they turn out on me when I look in the mirror, which isn't often and thats why I need help with this lol

My gut is telling me to let em dread, so I'm pretty sure thats what I'll end up doing, and your right I can undread them if I miss the bangs; but for now, I won't fuss with them if they get teeny knotted, and see what happens. :)

Now I just wonder how they will section... hrrrmmm :]

To Bang or not to Bang?

General Questions

Im gonna let em dread I think :)

It's what it wants your right !!

They are gunna go slow I think though, because the hairs on the side of my face havent really formed yet from the oils on my skin I'm thinking?

But I feel like the bangs are also going to be skinny.

To Bang or not to Bang?

General Questions

Hey peeps,

So I've been on my journey now for 6 Months now, half year mark woohoo !! :)

My bangs are also getting quite long and my plan WAS to keep em long until my dreads were formed so that I could keep em from getting eaten by the other dreads.

Once all the dreads were together I was gunna cut my bangs so that I could have some bangs and dreads because I frankly like the look of both. But nowwww my bangs are pretty long to the point where they are wanting to dread and I'm re-thinking if I should even cut them and if I should just let them dread?

But I just can't decide because I do like how dreads look with a lil bit of bang; at the same time I feel like they are going to want to dread and don't know if I want to maintain the bangs orrr let em dread?

ALSO my other concerns are that idk how they will section and I'm hoping I don't look too scalpy if they do dread.

Sooo to bang or not to bang?

A little help from my fellow dread head friends??

General Questions

Hey Logan! I would say you have the right idea! A head band a loose hair band around one time so that you don't feel any pulling in your scalp or obvious tightness. Do you have any mature enough dreads even to use as the hair tie? I like to use a headband and one of my dreads to wrap around them and tuck it in the loop. :)

lol party on my head!! woohoo. haha well when you put it that way!! I am really excited to see the changes! theres not manyyy loops but there are some and there are some zig zaggysss. they were pretty straight before that now that their matting their doing a bunch of changes! I noticed that changes happen when I do a bs/avc rinse from my normal routine of bronners.

Without knowing what to expect, the loops could cause some anxiety, When if fact they should cause excitement!!!! Loops mean there is dreading happening right now! The more loops the more dreading taking place! You will learn to love these crazy lil guys....and when they are done partying and swinging around, they will mature into beautiful lovely locs!!!......Happy Dreading Friend.

Yea Im doing the natural and thought there wouldnt be as many loops as the T&r method. But I also have curly/wavy hair which could probably be contributing to the loops. I'm just excited with every new thing in the mess! lol excited to see them morph!

If you look at my timeline.. I'm only at almost 3 months.but I . I have pics of the evolution of the same set of dreads and what the loops are doing. I just noticed that yours are natural and mine are kinda forced since I sectioned and twist and ripped, I don't know if that makes a difference but the loops on my head right now are insane lol The timelines have helped me more than anything in what to expect.

We all dread at different paces, some members in this community have dreads that appear to be mature 1 year in, others like me do not, I'm still pretty wild. The journey is so fun, when it is finished you may miss all the craziness.

LolThank you everyone! It seems obvious now that he loops are the beginning of shrinking? If the loops encourage thickness, awesome! My dreads seem pretty thin at the ends. Im certain they will hug the rest of the dread im just wondering when it seems like the hairs movin quick after just 3 months! :D

lol I like the analogies!

You put it very nicely. I would never think of cutting them off! lol but I just wanted to know what is to come of the loops so it's reassuring to know it's a good sign , thank you! :]

have you ever tied your shoes

dont u make a loop and pull 1 loop through the other?

when yiu throw your christmass lights in a box dont all the loops intertwine into a tangled mess?

u cant have dreadinmg without some sort of looping

they will settle down

its a nesacary part of the process

silly losticians cut the loops off then take a hook and create loops

loops a re a great sign that they are dreading properly
