the future of dreadlockssite and testers needed

alright guys and gals going to need a lil more help with this

im installing it now and beginning to play around with it however im finding that to acheive the functionality we have now plus some added theres goingto be a semi large 1 time feee

estimated 300-400 dollars (us) this is abit much for me now since im tryig to move plus just doubled the site costs with the new serfver (till i close the old versions)

now what you will get with this

unlimmited uploads no longer will vids be limited to 100 mb and 10 minutes of low quality vids now i have it set to 3 gigs max...and if theres ever a need can increase that but that should be enough for an hour or more at hd quality

you will also get a shop for selling music (musicians and bands) or crafts or whatever

profile commenting like we have now plus personal blogs andf forums

unlimited (i believe) musuic uploads photos etc etc

oh and i think your own personal events calenders ..probly most useful for musicians but im sure others can find uses too

we will get everything we have now everytying wed lose if we upgraded to the 3,.0 site and a good bit more

but i will need help with the setup feees as well as development help or at least testing

more updates on the shops feature

theres multiple options for shops the 1 thats probably tyhe best option does have a monthlt=y subscription fee id need to pay its affordable

it also has an optionb to have a percentage go to the site costs so if its ok with shop owners i might go with this option then add a 1-3% per sale "usage tax"

most likely starting at 3% and lowering as sales increase

i ciould not enable a full 3 gig file limit without upgrading the ram of the server to a minumum of double what its gotnow ..i will do so in the future but for now thevideo limits are set to 1.22 gigs this should be plenty for most high guality vids of a reasonable length

as soon as anyone cannot upload a file that requires a higher limit i will increase it imediately (imediateky might mean ill put in the upgrade request but can take 1-3 days to actualy add the ram to the server)

for now its over 100 times the file size limit we have now

ok working on a rough preview hardly got anytthing done yesterday cause after 18 hours of frustration i finaly figured out the trick to working with it and when i finaly was getting somwhere i noticed the sun wass up and everyone was headed off to work and school

so i slept 2-3 hours and got back to work

the last gig of data from heres uploading now it took 4 or 5 days to upload

in an hour or 2 the data will be imported and u should be able to login and check it out in a very rough form though all posts and such will be tests only since it will be movedto this domain

but once its imported u shiould get anb idea at least of how4 fasrt it should be

and onde its completed and we mive to it the server should be powerdful enough to hasndle a million hits a second ..ofcourse we got alotta growing to do to get there but with how much we can expandthe site it will be huge

musics going to be a much bigger part of it

and as u see right niw therres that huge pic of me that will be a slider of featured profiles

though i might go a whole diferent wauy with the laayout

since shops will be added to profiles i might make that sklider featured shops

oh heres another interesting fafct

bands can have multiple user accounts with 1 profile this means that the band can have a profile while every band member has a account to manage the profile

its alot diferenjt themn what we got now and it is stioll a testto see if its going to be what we wantto use but it has promice in its flecxibility

and i am looking for new admins and especialy anyone what hasd any experience developing cms modules and such

wanted

a few dedicated admins willing to learn the ins and outs of the new site system (no coding needed and admins will hgave specific duties)

its not super complicated but will require a lil reading and maybe watching asfew videos to famniliarize yourself with the system

once you figure out what you have to do, the actual workload should be low

unlessthe site really takes off and becomes hufe m then youd be kinda ateam leader for a few admins handeling your duties

what these will be are still unknown as i familiarize myself with the system but would prefer a few admins get in early during development before we go live

it does have spam blocking but might not be as good as we have now so there mightbe a lil more spam cleanup then the 1 spammer every 3 months we get now

all members profiles are active on the new site! all (incomplete) data has been imported i still need to figure out how to organjize and link it all and add the stuff i want to the menu and front page but i see some of you are already logged in and checking it out

i hope to have a complete test sitre ready in a couple days

i had a virus and my pc is still all screwed up

so kight not get to work on it today

at the rate im working once thed datas up i can have the site ready in days to a week instead of the month i expected

though theres 1 big issue going to need volunteers for

seems banned profiles are slipping through and being added s active so want to give 3 or 4 ppl the job of sifting through the lists and cleaning up or at least finding and sending the links to all the spammers

we noticed a whole block of "buy viagra" profiles slip through

so once we move we'll have a lil cleaning up to do althoiyhgh if we get the volunteers we can do it b4 the move

like i said we can haved it done in 5-7 days possibly

and mobile users especialy should be super happy with the upgrade

plus the speed improvements phenomenal
