rubber band or no rubber band

wat you reckon, ive been finding alot of un-raveling going on..... Im thinking should I rubber band near the roots, so then I dont have much hair before the locking starts or????? I really dont wanna heaps of hair and then the lock, if you know what I mean...im like 2 weeks now.... so should it be algud to rubber band ?
