i never went to the beach u can do sea salt sprays but its needed all hair will dread with no effort at all but u should warn him not to ever use the hook again and just leave em alone to dread

welcome but u should know crochet is absolutely terrible for dreads but if u never maintain using the hook u will recoverthrow away the hook and you;ll be ok
