Welcome. Back combing is fine, but I have to warn you that crocheting is the most damaging thing that can be done to locks. Even more than wax. The damage from crocheting is permanent.
If you only crocheted once to start, there is about a 6 month period for them to heal themselves. The more you crochet, the longer your hair takes to lock up. If done enough, locks can't recover
