Welcome. Do you mean you used a kit? If so, the wax needs to be removed immediately for your locks to form. Wax is a hydrocarbon, and prevents water from reaching your locks. What little water does get in, can't get back out and dry. This will cause mold and mildew.

We have a great recovery forum for anyone who used kits from KB or DHHQ.
