Dying Dreads???

General Questions

Yeah... LOL! I earned all mine.. maybe time to show 'em off. I didn't buy dye today. I DID however get all kinds of goodies. Can't wait to decorate. I got a bone bead, a quarts crystal bead, some wood beads, bunches of different colors of embrioderythread, and a few leather strips that I'm thinking of using as wraps :) Fun fun fun girl night with my sweetie :)

Dying Dreads???

General Questions

LOL! Yeah, I've actually noticed the gray since I've been using the BS / ACV... Maybe I'll just continue with that since the whole point for me was to go natural. I was looking and it's kinda like a gray streak thru one side. It might actually turn out to be pretty. I never noticed it before because I always kept it dyed. And if I'm gonna continue with the BS / ACV, which I really like, it's just gonna strip anything I put in it anyway right ?

Dying Dreads???

General Questions

So could I mix the BS into tea to wash with? Kinda kill 2 birds with one stone?

Dying Dreads???

General Questions

Hey guys...
I really need to dye my baby dreads. I'm about 3 months (I think) into my journey. I'm having a blast with it, and rarely have questions. I'm really good with just letting them do their thing. It's fun to wake up every morning and see what they are up to for the day :) especially after a wash day. I have loops, squiggles, some loose hair, and some that is in their own section, but not really dreaded yet. I'm at a stage where I'm starting to see some shrinking, and I'm good with that too! It's a great journey.
The thing is, I'm really not digging my gray, but I'm not sure how to go about dying them. I wouldn't mind the gray if it was throughout my hair, but since I kept them at bay by dying, it's only at the roots and I feel like I have a skunk stripe. Any advice on dying or even stripping so the gray is just throughout my hair and not just at the roots?
Thanks in advance :)

Are my sections too big ?

General Questions

Hmm... well mine to look similar but I have about 40 dreads now, with new ones forming.. After reading what SE said, I had a good session of staring at my hair in the mirror.. LOL! I think most all of them are well under an inch... I do have one kinda big one underneath on the bottom to one side, but I'm planing on leaving it. I've been using that one to wrap around the others when I need to look somewhat presentable.
So I have that one that's kindabig, but I shall call him Fred and keep him LOL! But now after looking at them closely... Does it matter if they are actually squares? cause I let my hair section itself. The sections are all different shapes and sizes.. but except for that one, they are from about pencil size to sharpie size...... that's the best way I can describe it, and that is at the section, not the dread itself.. Think I'll be ok?

Izzy, did you end up starting over?

Are my sections too big ?

General Questions

I think they are gonna be ok... but I'm new too! Mine are about that size.. but I have thin, fine, straight hair. The dreads are turning out to be about pencil size to sharpie size... if I made the sections any smaller, there wouldn't be enough to dread... So I think it depends on hair type.. maybe you could just seperate a few since you're not that far in? That might be better than brushing them completly out.. :)

Yeah... I'd definitely go with what SE or Baba or one of the wise ones has to say on this :)

I know it's best to go completely natural.. I'm just passing on what I thought when I saw your pics... Maybe you should TnR to get the sections seperated? It would be a lot easier to deal with and then you can be sure you are sectioning in basically the same place each time?
