heeeelp!!!

Introduce Yourself

It also contains harsh and toxic chemicals which would easily be absorbed by the scalp. A bit close to the brain to chance it, in my opinion.

dawn dish soap works like a charm if they are not solid with wax. Remember to dilute it when it's near your scalp, it's powerful.

General Questions

No, that won't dread at all :( Sorry to say it but I hope you didn't pay her for this. You'll need to remove the gel and start over, most likely. This site has great posts on dreading methods, and you won't have to pay anyone a penny.

Here's a link to different methods: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/page/dreading-methods

I suggest neglect for curly hair, but if you want to choose section size (e.g., how many dreads you will have), twist and rip is a good method.

General Questions

Did she back-comb? Twist and rip? Braid? Crochet?

Number one thing you need to do is get that gel out. If the hair can't move, it won't dread at all.

General Questions

Oh lord. Umm... firstly, how did she start your dreads? Method, products? Secondly, it's a common misconception with dreadlocks that they needn't be washed. Dirty hair dreads slower, plus you could end up trapping dirt, head grease, and whatever products you used in your hair, and that could lead to mildew and eventual loss of your locks due to rotting. Not a pretty thing.

It seems to be :( I've seen 'em grow too. Font starts small, then I check for replies and the font is huge on a few posts.

Ummm, is it just me or are the fonts in these comments ridiculously huge? Is this a site-wide bug?

Also, it appears you've braided a section on the back of the head. Doing this will in no way help the hair dread -- in fact, it will only take longer. Maybe a lot longer. Backcombing isn't the method I'd recommend, due to the hair damage (especially since you bleached as well), but if you're set on it, knotty described it well above. I'd personally go natural ("neglect"), but twist and rip is fine. I agree with everyone else too: those sections are pretty large. Mature dreads usually end up the thickness of the sections, so he could have very thick dreads. And by the look of it, maybe only around 20 total.

balding

General Questions

If you stress over balding you'll cause balding, seeing as stress is the #1 cause of loss of hair.

Instead of worrying, consider ways to improve the health of your scalp (natural herbs and essential oils such as horsetail, rosemary, etc.). Also avoid pulling on your hair or wearing hats at all times of the day, as well as putting your hair into tight ponytails.
