i keep doing the twist and ripping on the tips over and over again

Introduce Yourself

Blunt tips are NOT bad, they are just over-rated and blunted tips take longer to dry. Just let your locks do what THEY want. Focus on something more important and find love for whatever your locks want to do. Some locks may become blunt tipped and you should be happy for that but don't force that on your locks, you are only setting yourself for failure.

General Questions

It depends on what you use. If you use the baking soda and then ACV rinse then nah, don't mess with it...just pour it on. But if you use the Dr. Bronners soap then scrub your scalp gently with your fist balled up. Make sure you rinse really well afterwords. Don't worry about it right now just wait and see. If your hair doesn't lock up on it's own within the next six months or so then you can try T&R. But you gotta dedicate yourself to becoming patient and committed since you're starting with short hair. I started with a buzz cut and I've got a few locks after six months of patience and commitment. Man, the past six months has been an awesome journey. The reason that I say don't use extensions or any other methods but natural is because you gotta get into the mindset of having dreadlocks. You don't do anything to get em and then when ya do have em it's much easier to not care if they're having a bad day or they aren't looking perfect...in fact after six months of waiting for dreads, I don't give a crap how my locks come out, I'm gonna love em anyways, ya know? It's like having a kid, you don't care about how it looks because no matter what it is the most beautiful thing in the world to you. Same thing with dreads. But man, I can tell that you have the right mindset for it. Just gotta go with the flow and well one day you wake up with awesome locks and all of a sudden people are shouting out "nice dreads!" Lol aight aight.. I'm just gna chill.. The extensions were just to keep em together until they lock n then I could cut em off once they were a lil longer.. I'll forget it tho. Does seem a lil lame.. I'm just so worried they aren't going to lock on their own cuz I've nvr combed my hair n it use to be lonng n no dreads ever started.. I'm just being stupid n worrying tho. Do I like just not mess with my hair when I wash it tho? Just like pour the stuff on?

Nah, man. Leave the crocheted ones alone and they'll become natural again. You haven't been crocheting for very long so that's a plus. But don't get extensions. They're kinda lame, haha. Just let your dreads grow, man. It's gonna take a lot of commitment but in the end it is worth it to know that you have accomplished something in your life. Like I said, don't worry about your hair...just enjoy life as it comes and then you'll be rockin' in no time. One thing that I'd like to mention though is that your hair is pretty short for dreadlocks and a few...maybe even most might come apart before they start dreading naturally but don't sweat it. It's like a healing process. Let it do it's thing and you'll come out with the sickest, meanest dreads in the land.

Yeah, if you want real locks then the wax has to go. Sorry, I hate being the bearer of bad news. But on a positive note...you are on the only site that gives you the complete truth on growing dreadlocks so you don't have to worry about making mistakes anymore. Tex said:
so i should just wash this stuff out like asap then?

Definitely not dreadlocks, man. If you still want real dreads then just brush your hair out and get all that nasty wax out. Good luck to ya, man.

General Questions

Enjoying nature. Nature seriously seems to speed up the locking process. At least that is my experience.
