Tea tree oil and baking soda?

Dread Maintenance

I know tea tree oil is good for dreads. I tried it for the first time today. I normally wash with baking soda and did the same today, just added just a hint of oil.

Now, I'm not sure if I rinsed good or what, but this time, my hair feels oily. LikeI used shampoo but didn't wash it all the way out and it dried. Is it always going to feel like this after a BS/Tea Tree oil wash or should I just try to rinse it out again?

Separating...I'm at my wits end!

Dread Maintenance

This was my reason for combing out my first set of dreads. Mine was all at the roots though. Nothing my hair did wrong, I just wasn't seperating enough and I had two sections on each side of my head that were just matted up hair.... and not in a good way. I started over, the natural way this time(first time was backcombed). I don't have much problem with them growing together, but if I don't seperate every day or two, they get harder to seperate. It's very normal, the more your hair moves, the more you have to seperate. I have a few smaller dreads that I let congo with other small dreads, as I thought they were too small compared to some of my others. Just watch the big ones, they're the worst! :)

Good luck!!!

Occaional use of Head and Shoulders or Selsen Blue.

Dread Products

I've always had extremelybad dandruff. I am in the process of ntural dreads but I'm only about 2 1/2 months in. I wash with baking soda, which helps to remove residue and dry my hair up quicker. My concern is, it seems like if I don't wash with actual shampoo, my dandruff gets really bad, REALLY quick. It causes my hair to look really nasty and dirty. I know you can use different oils and such, but I don't have the money. I'm wondering if every other wash (I wash about twice a week) would be ok to use a anti-dandruff shampoo? Dandruff was one of the main reasons I combed my dreads out earlier this year and I don't wanna lose my progress to it again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

parted hair?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

I am about 4 months into natural dreads. I've always had a striaght part down the center of my head, even when I didn't try to make it that way. I have about 4 or 5 good dreads on the right side of my head and a feww good ones in the back. The hair on my left ide is sectioned(on it's own) and started to knot up. I still have the part though. My hair still has a long way to go though, so I may end up losing that part in the center... .Which I don't mind. :) Good luck!!!

helmet head

General Talk

My husband has a motorcycle. He doesn't have dreads, but I do and found thatthe helmentdid sort of flatten them. If you have one that doesn't fit so tight, it gives your dreads a little breathing room, but still fits your head snuggly. Going without a helment always helps dreads along, with the wind blowing, but like SE said, it's not the safest thing to do. Best of luck and be safe! :)

I want to get dreads but when should i?

Dreading Methods

I started my journey with the backcombing method. I wouldn't advise it. I was completely disappointed with the outcome. Honestly, I think it prolonged the process. My hair detangled its self and completely resectioned its self. So not worth the time or effort. Just go natural.

I need opinions please.

Dreading Methods

Mine started out as backcomb. I ended up backcombing my entire head a total of three times cause every time I washed, they would come undone. After the third time, I decided to go natural. I was putting too much emphasis how how bad they looked that I wasn't enjoying them. My backcpmbing came alomost completely undone and now I'm about 9 weeks in and they are dreading nicely on their own. They are super messy and frizzy bit definitely making progress. I wish you the best of luck in your journey!!!

men baldness and dreadlocks

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I'm not a man, but my hair was falling out in handfuls. Not from actual balding but from dying it waaayyy too much. Since I have started my dreads, I only get a strand or two every day. I'm not too sure if there could be any repercussions with his hair or not. But if its starting to fall out anyways, why not give it a try. Its definitely something you could ask SoarinEagle though. Good luck!

how do you wash n dry

Dread Maintenance

I just pour the BS over my hair till its completely wet, let it soak for 10-15 minutes and rinse with cold water. to dry, I just wrap then in a towel for no more than 10 minutes and let them air dry the rest of the way.
