wasn't bob marley mixed? back when i had a bush my hair used to get matted down and never spread out like his bush. wish it did though.

thanks for the welcomes everyone.@soaring eagle. well when i restarted my locks the second time i had a friend do them and she was using beeswax. when i went to the loctician she told me to never use beeswax and spent all this extra time washing my hair and pressing the wax out of my locks. she uses her own mixture of shea butter and something else but i can't remember. i get them twisted/maintenanced like once a month or a month and a half.its been about a month and a half sine i last went and i've got a lot of new growth.

wools great for dreads

I used to wear wool skully in the winter time, but was told they unravel tight dreads and put loose hairs everywhere.

i've been told not to wear wool hats because they can affect dreads negatively, so im not sure about sleeping in a wool cap. i've used satin caps, silk, wave caps, etc.but all of them end up coming off before i wake up anyways so i don't wear anything on my head to sleep.

hmmm i retwist like every 4 to 5 weeks. maybe because im still young and the texture of my hair i never had to worry about my roots coming out. i mean the loctician twists tight skinny and its never been a problem. i don't like when my hair kinks together at the root though, and its a pain trying to separate em if i wait more than a month for a retwist because its like i got a thick bush underneath my dreads.

@soaring eagle how can you tell me what does and doesn't hurt? I do seperate after every wash and im constantly separating throughout normal everyday life. My hair and your hair is different. My pain threshhold and yours is different. I don't want to go offtopic but a huge problem I have with this site is how info is thrown out there and it seems only one type is correct and it makes it seem like you are the only person that knows anything about dreads. I think im going to find a more open forum on dreadlocks.. Twisting isn't bad. I've had no problems with it. I came here to get and share knowledge and not get dictated to. Peace.

Im due for a retwist. Its been about six weeks and with all the new growth,washing and general texture and kinkiness of my hair its starting to hurt and become a burden when seperating my locks. Its like I gotta a bush underneath my locks. So ill get them retwisted tomorrow.

On second thought ill stick to what I know and has worked for me. Gonna get twisted and post the results soon.
