Using soap bar shampoo from Lush- not good for dreads

Dread Products

Why did you take your dreads out? Are you planning on re-dreading?

Just curious!

Dread Maintenance

Thank you!

I am very happy to say, they managed quite well!!

I wanted to go to the beach for some natural sea salt, but we're getting tropical storm debby so that's out.

A little nervous..............

Dread Maintenance

My baby dreads (backcombing) are only 4 days old and I'm getting ready to BS wash them for the first time. I have a lot of hair! I'm nervous that I'll come out of the shower with straight hair!

as a side note: I bought a big shower cap so I can shower every day and not get my dreads wet.... because I have so much hair, I look like a big mushroom with it all up under that cap!! ha ha ha

To Bang Or Not To Bang... That is the Question.

General Questions

Thanks Christina, that's a good idea, not too short so I can still pull them back if I want to.

They'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow! I go to the beach a lot so I think the salt water has really helped.

To Bang Or Not To Bang... That is the Question.

General Questions

I like the bangs.

I just undid a few last night.... now I don't know what to do with that hair that I undreaded!! It's very long, and I didn't have bangs before I started, so now it's a mess..... I'm afraid to cut it. :(

Staring..

General Questions

Mine are babies.... only 3 days old, so they are quite poofy :) I went to the grocery store with my daughter & her friend and everyone stared at me. I felt proud because I had the guts to do something different that I wanted to do. A lot of people don't and are miserable. I am celebrating life!! Let them stare!

Why I chose to dread...

Introduce Yourself

I've always had very thick, long hair. I've been fighting cancer for two years... surgeries, chemo, ect. I told my kids that when I was cancer free I would dread my hair. It's my way of celebrating life. I am very happy to say that my last scan was cancer free and my "baby dreads" are 4 days old. It feels right, it feels like me. I am very excited to start this journey!

Trying to find a middle ground with husband

General Questions

Okay, wow, I just went through this same thing with MY husband! I'm 51 and am in my 4th week of dreading! At first he hated the idea but he's finally warming up to them. I had a few days where I was questioning it myself, but once I saw here on this wonderful group that it's normal in the beginning... I feel much better.

Good Luck!!! :)
