I love that, it's a great way to explain how I feel as well.

I don't think beads is a feminine thing at all. If you want beads you should get some and see if you like wearing them.
So much wisdom in this thread!
I love the way my dreads make me feel. The otherdaythis woman was looking at me on the train and I could tell that she disapproved of meand my hair. That just made me feel rebelious and strong and superior to her. I kind of felt sorry for her in her perfect outfit, perfect make-up and "perfect" hair. I bet she could never leave her house with out her perfect appearance, that's insecurity.
I believe that most people don't think too much about how other people look because they are busy worrying about themself. If I ever feel insecure that thought helps me.
I just tried sleeping on wool for two nights and I didn't like it at all. Major frizz and on the second morning I found undreaded hair that was dreaded before the wool experiment. It seems that the wool is doing more harm than good for me. I'm four month along and maybe this works better in the very beginning of the journey.
That is so cool! I also think that itis the best way to educate people, let them see (and feel) the result of what you want them to learn.
My hair is like yours and in the beginning I did use bands because my t&r would wash out in an instant. I'm almost 4 month into my journey and now I just use some beads and string. I wrap a dread with string and leave it for maybe 2-3 weeks, then I move the string to another dread and leave it there for another 2-3 weeks. I usually don't wrap the tips, only the root and/or the middle of the dread.I find that this really helpsthem along. My tips are all loose but I'm ok with that now. I even think I'll miss them if they do dread.
I understand completely why you want to use the bands, but I will also tell you that when I finally decided to let go of them, it was a relief.
Congratulations! He is adorable!
I can hardly remember when my girls were this tiny. They grow up so fast.
I you have alot of t-shirts you can always try to break the record for the number of tees worn at the same time.... or not...
That's cool! I need some inspiration on what to do with old tees. I'll usually cut the neckline and the arms, but I'm sure there are a lot of fun things that can be done.
