migraine & dreads

Dread Maintenance

greetings, does anyone have any information/evidence about migraines & dreads pls?I get migraines & have had debates with friends about my locs making them worse due to the extra weight on yr scalp...While I don't believe they could cause migraines (its the blood vessels, not pressure on yr scalp), I'm not sure about making it worse once you have a migraine already...my scalp is already incredibly sensitive when I get one so when I have the extra weight of dreads I guess it might be more uncomfortable...

Stop pulling them out!!

Dread Maintenance

I have millions of these little bits of white skin around my roots. I might have to wrap up my hair at work now because people that don't know what they're looking at think I have lice!

I'm guessing there isn't anything that you can do to get rid of them without harming your dreads? Maybe I'll try henna...

Oh well, at least they will eventually get sucked in.

Itchy scalp

Dread Maintenance

I found something that really works (for me) - I woke up this morning scratching so bad I thought I was going to make my scalp bleed. I came on here and found a discussion, that I cant seem to find now, where SE suggested a few drops of rosemary and peppermint(I think)oils in a water spray. I must admit I was very sceptical that a bit of mist was going to stop the unbareable itchyness, but it bloody worked! I didnt have peppermint so I put a few drops of rosemary, a few of lavendar and one of tea tree (same ones I use to wash with) in with clean water, I sprayed a little mist from afar onto my head where my partings are, shook my locs about a bit and it hasnt itched since! - Btw I didnt spray much, my hair wasnt damp or anything.

Was it the placebo effect? I dont care, it stopped the itching and me scratching it, so it works for me : )

Crochet oops!

crochet and dread tools recovery

No worries, I got the ACV from holland & barratt, but cant buy pure aloe anywhere - I tried on-line but they sent me some 98% crapthat I could have bought in anyboots, thinking I wouldnt notice. You can buy the aloe plants elsewhere but I heard they are cheap in ikea. I followed SE's recipe but it took me a while to get the hang of soaking my scalp and hair thoroughly & rinsing properly too. Good luck : )
