Hi Rose, I found the BS to be ok, my hair is not straight at all though, quite wavy almost to the point of forming ringletswhen it is grown out. After growing it for a year or so dreads just started to form without any input from me. Perhaps that is the difference, is your hair naturally straight? It sounds like your dreads are forming ok though, mine start the same with tangles in the middle of the section then cotinue to tangle more. The whole process seems to speed up a bit as time goes on...
Thanks for your kind comments guys. When i started it seemed like a long way to go to reach 1 year but timemarches on eh...looking forward to 2 years dreadaversary now
Thanks SE, Ive not tried sea salt yet but might give it a go...
Well its been 1 year since I started dreading. The process seemed a little slow to bein with, after finding my first dread i seemed to average 1 dread forming per month though it has picked up pace in the last few months. At this point I have 12 well formed dreads and half as many again at various stages of dreading.
Up until a few weeks ago i had been using BS to wash, now using Dreadlock shampoo bars. I reckon on another year beforeI have a full head of mature dreads.
This is after 6 months dreading
9 months
and after 1 year
Welcome aboard. You will need a bit of patience, it might be 6 months to a year before your hair is long enough to start dreading itself. When it is ready it will happen though. I started with a crew cut and just let it grow and about a year later i found a small nicely formed dreadhad developed without me knowing - apart from washing i pretty much dont do anything. 6 months later i have maybe 8 dreads, all naturally formed. If you plan on keeping dreads for a long while then a year or to of waiting at the start is no big deal overall. Happy journeys.
Sweet, great spot up there. You will meet many dreadies for sure and should be a few good gigs on too. Kinda used to the quakes now, have been a few in the last week or so. They have been going on for over a year now.
