Hair wrapping on nee dreads- good or bad?

Dread Accessories

I’ve never backcombed or anything. My ends don’t really dread either like 3 or so inches from the bottom. But aesthetically I like it better then blunted ends anyways.. and I hear or I think I read on this site it’s a little easier for them to dry completely with “paintbrush” ends

That answer will be different for everyone since everyone’s hair dreads at different rates. Mine has went fairly quick I started seeing loops the first few weeks

Hair wrapping on nee dreads- good or bad?

Dread Accessories

It’s crazy yep.. with the beads just I would be sure they fit just right where it stays on but can moved and if I leave any beads I move them up and down every few days to make sure they don’t get stuck and I’ve read about beads being to tight and causing weak spots so watch out there.. I did beads the same though when they were new dreads I didn’t leave them any length of time. Now I have a few that have been in a month or more. I just keep an eye on them and move up or down after washing to make sure it drys right.. I have like 40ish dreads I think. Haven’t counted but twice and the number changes soo 🤷‍♀️

Hair wrapping on nee dreads- good or bad?

Dread Accessories

I think the key to wrapping them early is to not wrap too tightly on dreads that are still very young.. the first month or two I would wrap loosely and really never kept the wrap in more than a week or so.. as they get older I wrap a bit tighter and leave it a bit longer.. I try to think of it as clothing for my dread I want it covered but not suffocated. I’m nearing 7 months now and can’t tell any difference between ones that have been wrapped and others that haven’t.

I’m no expert at only barely 4 months in but it’s my 3rd time giving dreads a shot and I’ve read and watched tons of videos lol.. I think it’s just because your hair is thicker and there’s a lot of it is why you feel you’re not making “progress”. Thicker hair takes longer to dread. I’m sure you chose natural method for a reason, so as far as being satisfied just remind yourself of WHY you chose to do it this way and relax and let it be.. aside from that I could say if you wanted to separate and do some palm rolling it may be satisfying for a moment you could see and feel better where it’s actually “dreading”. But that’s just a temporary “solution”. Everyone here will say Lea or it be... which is cool.. everyone else can see it making “progress” but you.. kinda like kids or pets growing when you see them everyday you don’t realize how big they’re getting until years have passed and their grown, but say a family member visits once or twice a year and says oh you’ve grown sooo much. I think dreads are the same if that makes sense lol..

General Questions

Yes I know it’s small.. I have those big ones as well and ladders and snake sticks and all kinds of “mess”. These ones just popped out of no where and is not the same is why I was curious about it. Already more of the hair has come out and made a bigger loop the morning.. must be the way I sleep 🤷‍♀️ The dread it’s self is a bit looser around that area then it was before too.. almost like it was undoing itself?

General Questions

Ok.. so I know loops bumps and knots and what not are all part of the process. But I have these ones that are a bit concerning.. it seems that the hair like wants to bust loose out the dread 😂. Will that happen? Am I worried over nothing.. I think this one in particular did it cuz it’s one of my favorites so it just wanted to rebel 😂😂 any who I already know everyone will say do nothing and leave it be...and I’m mostly fine with that. I guess I just want to know that it won’t “jump out” per say and it will eventually go back into the dread.

Aloe Vera

Dread Maintenance

Ehhh... that worked so, so.. can see where it’d be great on mature dreads but not so good on babies as you mentioned since it is conditioning... I’m glad I went light with it and won’t be doing it again anytime soon no major issues just could tell it wanted to loosen some of my babies... thanks for the advice..

Aloe Vera

Dread Maintenance

I got some Aloe Vera to use on my hair, yes it’s 100%. I’m planning on using it for the first time today as I have a semi formal event to go to this eve.. my question is should I wash it out or will it be fine for a few days to leave in? Do I just use sparingly on the extra frizzy spots? I thought about mixing with water and just spraying it in before styling?
