Ahhh lol well I Live in a very conservative redneck part of central Florida. My family has been pretty accepting my mother actually even saying she might put a dread or two in lol. But we are all very redneck hippie free spirited. I've come to see that people either love it or hate and people WILL touch your hair lol. Most just have questions and I'm able to educate them properly and debunk some stereotypes

Yeah dyed dreads are very popular in florida. We have a large community of free form or wicks. I free formed and my dreads are pretty thin except a few thicker ones. Theres definitely a long ugly stage lol. But I decided to dread to resist the conformity of society. I mean it was slightly asthetic also cus I like dreads lmao. but it has for sure set me apart from the convientional and its been a great experience so far Happy

Idk anything about dying hair that's why I was interested but seems like dread wraps don't sound bad either...

Im thinkin about dying some locks blue in honor of Xxxtentacion. (The rapper that got shot, a florida native). And I used Kirks castile coconut oil soap and baking soda washes to lock and it happened quite fast. I do have an undercut and I have it down all the time sleep with it down also.

I hope it goes well I actually have three dreads that I had to tnr and it seems like they are very slow to shrink and mature. So patience is definitely key lol.

How long did it take your hair to lock up using freeform?

Dreading Methods

Im a year in. I seen some locks and knots and loops in the early month, but pretty fully locked around 8 months. I had 1.year worth or growth and my hairs really straight but pretty thick. I still have locks that aren't matured yet, I had some pieces that took their sweet time to lock lol
