Off topic rant. Need to vent...I swear I got the heart of Buddah and Dracula combined...

General Talk

I'm sorry, I couldn't make it passed you being told to dig a hole. My stomach hurts. Please contact some sort of pit rescue if you really feel like they are going to try to do this. Honestly being taken to a shelter and being euthanized alone sounds like a better way to go than this crazy unjust punishment

lesser of two evils?

Dread Accessories

So, we've had some beautiful prespring weather(in the 60s and 70s), the last week and it has reminded me of the sad truth that summer is coming. I live in western Tennessee where it is hot and very humid. I'm wonder about the bes possible way to keep my hair off my neck, a tam or a tube/headband. I have read both can slow the process by limiting movement. So i there one that's any better than another? I crochet and loom knit and already been playing with things I've already made and made a few new pieces. I plan on going out next week to get some wool but I'd like to know how to best use it.Anything helps. Thanks :)

Reducing the assault on my body

General Talk

The AVC is stinky in my little bathroom but the smell goes away after a minute. I've heard both good and bad things about coconut oil but like you, I only use it to remove eye make up. For "washing my face" i use grapeseed oil mixed with a small amount of castor oil both are recommended frequently on anything I've read about ocm

Reducing the assault on my body

General Talk

So, as I have mentioned before, a few months before I began my dread journey I began clearing out my bathroom of all kinds of stuff. I have been vegitarian for ten and a half years so I am pretty used to reading ingredient list, however I had no clue where start with the products I was using daily. As my hair reacted in worse and worse ways to silicon based hair serums and my face kept breaking out more and more, I realized maybe I am going at this the wrong way..And as it turns out, I was right. I was leading a full on assault on myself on a daily baises. In an attempt to simplify and nurture my body I've been considering more what I put on it. After my fist major clean out I've been subtracting parts o my daily routines then implementing new habits one or two steps at a time. I feel this helps me narrow down what is and is not working for me.I started an oil cleansing method for my face last night. I love the results so far! I've been using ACV in the morning to tone and slightly exfoliate.Do any of you used soap free alternatives in your daily routine? Have you tried the OCM?

The Dyeing of the Dreads! What Color Are Yours?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

So, I've been dying my hair for nearly a decade, even with my past dread locks I've never had an issue, color leaking is something that some dyes do anyway. You don't want to rub it in, just coat your babies, nothing is stuck in mine, it just what happens with the veggie dyes sometimes. Also, manic panic isn't the greatest. Some of the colors are great and vibrant but I prefer a brand called Special Effects. It's not usually sold at beauty stores

MAD dandruff - Baking soda going wrong?

Introduce Yourself

I was using the honey recipe! :)I loved it but that was before I stopped brushing. It made my hair very soft. But it did clean my hair really well and it's antibacterial. It does tend to lighten hair over time if that bothers you.

List of all dreadhead jobs!

dreads jobs employment issues

I wait tables for a local restaurant!! It's not glamorous but I love the owner of the company and the location I work at is very suited to meone of the fellas i worked with at a different location has had a head full of dreads since before i met him. Although I have heard of a customer complain after they saw him take his hair down (outside the building) generally my work place is very acceptingI have six facial piercings and been rocking brightly colored hair for the past 2 years I've worked here.I already have the facial piercings working against me when I look for a job but I've often found that I'm more likely to end up at a job that embraces my personality instead of shaming it
