Ye I tried the baking soda and suprisingly it worked pretty well, i messed up the first time but the second time i found out what to do.what you wanna do is get the baking soda completley dissolved in the warm, the first time i didn't do that so i had white bits in my hair. but the second time i let the soda dissolve, poured it over my scalp and into my dreads, sat around for 10-20mins and then went in the shower and rinsed it out with water. apparently avc is better for rinsing but I haven't had the time to go and buy some.
