To me the backcombing only hurt on the sides *kinda like if someone were to braid your hair near the temples omg that part hurt* the rest wasn't anything,and I guess the oilyness of your hair would affect the smell, I have people smell my hair fairly often *thats something I didn't think I'd say 2day* and never have it smell like anything unless I was out in the sun working on something,other than that Be4 I dreaded I had a very dry scalp and never used much of anything in my hair after a bad experience with hair gels and crap in 12th grade, which ironically lead to me to seriously considering dreads back then,
