Hello everyone, yal can call me BP i'm new to doing anything with my hair have always just had it faded.

I've been growing it out about 7 months now and i'd say its around 5 inches long at the moment.

Still don't know if dreads are for me, i'm mixed with White and Black and my hair is so

thin and curly so I was even afraid my hair wouldn't even stay twisted in the first place.

I had my wife watch a couple videos and we did a little research so she ended up twisting them together

as best as she could and we clipped them for about 4 hours and blow dried my hair for about 30 minutes.

Today is day 1 and I was really just trying out to see how I would even look with dreads. Also tried the backcombing

method and I just really think my hair is to short for that at the moment. But i'm just here for any advice even

if it includes me going ahead and untwisting all my hair and just continue to let it keep growing. Thanks in advance

dreadheads.

Just let it grow, wash and separate big sections! My bangs wouldn't lock until they reached chin length

Hey there I appreciate that info. & I know this is probably going in the wrong discussion section but do you guys see how my twist are not completely stuck together ? My hair is more like vines crossing going up a tree because it just doesn’t wanna stick all together as you can see in the above pictures. Should I continue to use more gel until my hair sticks or just take it all down and wait until it’s longer to fool with dreads?

Have you taken a look at the Dreadlock Soap we advertise here? I’m not sure what gel your using but if it’s not Vicki’s I’m not sure I’d recommend continuing to use it. It’s probably slowing things down. You don’t want all that product to stay in the center of your dreads and grow nasties once they start forming. Your hair might be too short but only time and patience will make dreads. All the backcombing, wax and all that jazz really only seems to slow the process even if they appear more dready early on.

My last set I put stuff in my hair not realizing how much dirt would stick to that and then be locked into my hairs... just wash, gel will prevent the hairs from moving and knotting, which is exactly what you want them to be doing, moving and knotting.

My first set I rip and twisted into my hairs, i found the sections to be very painful! Both of my natural sets have never hurt or pulled, for me that's huge, I don't want pain or sores from the hairs pulling. That and I like that each dread is its own, no two look the same
