so my dreads are bout 8-9 mths old and lookin pretty tight and dready like, it seems that the shrinkage has stoped and i can see about an inch or so new growth at the roots... the root seem to be twisting up by them selves in the last mth or so but not knotting... is this normal? i dont want to root rub or any thing, just natural from here on, at what length will it start to do its thing? and is there any thing that may aid or hinder it?

Actually your dreads sound like they're just fine, most people have about an inch of hair growth before the dread forms. That is, of course, also dependent upon the texture of hair as well, the curlier it is, the closer to scalp your roots will start dreading. But it seems like you're right on track and your dreads may be reaching maturity soon if they're not already.
