My first shot at dreads was a pretty miserable failure. I didn't know about twist and rip and assumed my fine straight, anglo hair wouldn't dread naturally. I was working as a chef so i had my hair in a wrap almost 24/7 with the sweat and flour and grime of a kitchen. eventually i shaved it all off for comfort (too damn hot in front of a wood fire oven in the middle of summer). Apparently I hadn't been nearly rigorous enough with my bicarb scrubs 'cause when those dreads came off the insides of them and my scalp were not a pretty sight.
I'm growing my hair back out with the intent of dreading again (natural & t&r). This site is full of great inspiration and beautiful dready heads ... drool.
