my dreads on my bottom row by my neck wont stay in should i leave em and shee if they naturally form or any tips on keeping them in??

I did four rounds of twist & rip on my nape and none of them took. The only way I could get them to stay together long enough to start dreading was to backcomb those sections and then very lightly crochet the tangles together... just a few passes with the hook. I know crocheting isn't recommended or thought of very highly around here, but that's what worked for me.
