tongue piercings

I went to my piercer today and had him describe how he would pierce my tongue, and I was wondering if there was anybody else out there who has their tongue pierced who could give me some extra information.He said I'd swish a solution around in my mouth to numb the tongue, then he'd take a pair of clamps (I know what he means, I've seen them) and hold my tongue and the needle with the jewelry on the end goes through the bottom of my tongue to the top.He said for healing, no smoking for at least two weeks, no spicy foods, take small bites/chew on the side of my mouth, and that it'll hurt the most for the first couple days/some swelling.Does this sound accurate to any of you? I'm not currently ready personally or financially for a tongue piercing, but I've always wanted one, so I thought I'd start my research now.
