Hi, i'm quite new 2 this site but an old hand at dreading, to needle felt the ends of your dreads is fine, it will fold them in beaut, doing felting near roots is risky but i've done it on ends & no problem. I only say this from real experience, I know Soaring Eagle would have a fit if he saw this but I do mean just the ends and not too much, just to get them on there way as i see you do have alot of unlocked ends.
I'm about 2 dread my hair for the 3rd time & am using the twist & rip method as Soaring Eagle suggested, you have enough on your ends 2 try that first,is much better than backcombing.
thats good to hear and keep updating us as they progress
