i did this by tying by dreads in a half up half down style then taking the dreads that were left out from around the sides of my head and underneath and curling them into the half up half down ponytail. i left two dreads out on either side of my head just near my ears then curled them over the section of dreads at the sides to create this look. kind of a fluke really haha

Hi BleeckerBetty,

I have had my dreads for a touch over a year. They have not tighten up all the way yet. Still a ways to go (years) before they are where I would like them. But I am happy with them thus far. I have had a lot of complements on them too. From younger folks to those who I would least expect to even or ever say any thing to me about them. Many folks that are in their 60's saying who cool it is, asking me if it is all my own hair, asking questions on how to care for them or how did I get them to look that way...I love it. It educates them on dreads, gets them away from stereo typing those with dreads. Which is fun for me and I like talking dreads. My son just cut his all off after 7 years :-(, but each their own, I will keep him anyway :-}, Now it is just me, his momma with dreads. I have pictures of his on my page if you want to take a peek. My journey has been very warm and pleasant.

you take care

peace

@Momma has dreads -- thank you!  It'll be 16 years this year.  How about you??  I love the styles you posted here -- thank you for starting this group.  There are so many resources out there for shorter dreadies....It's awesome to get inspiration for how to style our long vines!  I hope you're having a great journey with yours x0x0x0x
