Silly question from a baby dready. Size matter?

Dreading Methods

silly question: do dreads thicken? I have very fine hair so does that mean my dreads will be very fine? One of my hopes from dreading is that my dreads will give me a bit of volume to my hair. Its because it is fine that I think the twist come out. I am trying to twist and rip the sections of hair that have naturally separated, but it means they are quite thin.It is kind of nice when combined with the untwisted hair, but when I wash my hair, (i am waiting on the dread shampoo to come) many of the nots just slide on out.

About a week ago, I did a little twisting and ripping of larger sections, but when I looked in the mirror at the back of my head i had these big "holes" of scalp...yuk! So I took them on out, but perhaps I should just twist and rip part way down my hair and leave a section from scalp to dread of about 2-3 inches?

Dread Products

Forgive me if someone already weighed in on this scent but I ordered the patchtouli (forgive my misspelling) and I love the fragrance. It is not too heavy, and I cannot tell you the people that have literally stopped and said, "okay who's wearing patchtouli!!!!" and I give them the website so they can order their own. The scent will remain subtly scented for a couple days on me. Occassionally I will turn my own head and catch a whiff. I love it. Although, I do have a question if someone can help: when I wash, after I come out of the shower, the dreads are SO prominent and thick and coarse and i think FINALLY they'llstick, butonce my hair dries, they go soft and non-existant. I use the gel, but when it dries, they are just as soft as before. Is there anything else I can use to put on the dreads when whet that will hold that snarl?

Article Critique: "White People and Dreadlocks: A Problematic Union"

History and Religious Significance

So what of the person who colors their hair blonde...as the Viking...or gets a curly perm of Red hair like an Irishman....or the person who puts relaxant in their hair or flat irons their curls straight? How about the African American who sports a mohawk? Is it only the person who dreads that propagates a culture? Or anyone who tames their mane into an unnatural state of coiffed perfection....

Article Critique: "White People and Dreadlocks: A Problematic Union"

History and Religious Significance

I'd like to weigh in. I was feeling bad for "Star" from yesterday that she had to "fight" and go union to be able to "mane"tain control of her dreads. In our society, we have a propensity to ignore history.Angel is right when she says, "

I will say this though; every culture's history has it's own evil moral baggage and nasty assed skeletons they want to forget or even pay people to censor out of history books.

Everyday I say, "only in America." We are confronted with bias every day. We have a bias on race, interracial marriage, interracial kids, homosexuals, bisexuals, fat, thin,Catholics, Jews, Muslim, Rastas, Krishnas, women pastors/chaplains who "the bible says"cannot be in a position of authority over men...blah..blah..blah..., women in sports,

The author of that article seems to have been reading Peggy McIntosh's "Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack" talking about white privildege and "cutting off dreads"....Many of the issues we face, are uniquely American. Which is ironic considering America is a product of man's belief in "manifest destiny". Ever wonder what was under our founding father's white powdered wigs? Probably colic hair! LOL

So....make up is an appropriation of ancient egypt, jewelry, beading, pottery, piercings,SPORTS! etc. etc. All of society is an appropriation. America is one great big appropriation..get over it. I am a history major, and I get angry because we want to believe that we were born "white". The first civilization existed in Mesopotamia, and all of society descended from there. Honestly, Jesus probably had dreads! He certainly did not have blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyway, the point is; if whites must give up dreads, then anybody who's appropriated from another culture must give up as well.....
