My mom is great. We didn't always get along so well mostly because of my anti-authoritarian nature and y father being an ex-cop.
I pretty much let them know a long time ago that they could either take me for who I was or they wouldn't see me around.
For a long time they had to watch me be a junkie and our relationship was obviously a mess. When I found myself and became healthy and started being responsible and helping others, they started to understand me and all my choices. They see how happy I am in my life and they don't have to worry about me.
Now they support me and they don't care about stupid superficial things like hair or clothes.
I think parents who seem to be closed minded and controlling are very afraid. The media puts fear into the public and tries to create this sheepism we see everywhere. The parents think it is safest to fit in to what is acceptable.
In my experience, if you can show them that you can take care of yourself while being your own person they tend to forget about the nonsense stuff. On the other hand, if you are living at home, cant hold a job, not taking care of yourself, you will only feed their fear. Then they will push you harder and harder to conform so, in their eyes, you won't end up in a really bad situation.
This whole society is based on fear. Even the "green movement" and NRDC and the "liberal" democrats, and the animal rights people, are pushing fear and negativity to get what they want. We need posotive examples and joyful individuals to change things or else things will always be the same.
If you want people to accept you for who you are you have got to take the responsibility to show that you can stand on your own feet and be happy with your own choices.

General Questions

B.f.e - bum frick Egypt.. Out the middle of no where if you will. I want to run through the woods but it's too dangerous says my land lord/ grandmother. So I'm not aloud.. Where could I find a rainbow gathering around here? I'm very interested in finding one but they seem to be way more than an arm stretch away. This isn't in offense to any one, but I'm not confident enough in myself to approach a conversation first I feel like I'm taking away from their time, besides I never usually have any thing to talk about. Even when I need help in a store I'm weary to ask.I want to learn to love myself.. That's why I chose to get dreads. Maybe it would help show me that not every thing is perfect but everything has it's own beauty and every thing needs love to grow..

General Questions

Because I live in b.f.e and have no friends i spend all my days home alone with nothing to do but sleep. I want to be more active.. But there isn't anything to do. And right now I don't have the money or creativity for arts and crafts.. Honestly being so alone all the time has made me very depressed and I just want to drop everything and walk forever until I find my destination but that's unrealistic. So I just sleep...Any ideas?I'm 18 and I feel as if I'm almost 30.Maybe I just needed to vent this because nobody seems to be listening..

My hair is the same as yours so I hope it progresses the same. What all do you use. Have you used a wool tam or sweater?

dreads and jobs

dreads jobs employment issues

I was flat out denied being able to dread because it would hurt the business image.

1. I am never in the office.

2. Customers do not come back where I work.

3. This place RARELY ever has famous customers

4. So shove it.

OH! and as for discrimination, every where my mom applies she gets denied a job because she is deaf. One of the employees of Wal-Mart, scoffed behind her back and called her a stupid deaf, also said there was no chance. My grandmother was with her and heard it all because that idiot thought they we're both deaf. This is one of the many reasons I can barely stand the general population.
