also if you scroll up to the top toolbar thingy, there's a dreadlocks member map that shows all the members on a map of the world and you can zoom in to see if there are any people located near you on the site!

do hats stop dreading??

General Questions

I was in the exact same position, i had to put em up in a ponytail and then put a hat on for work. im 6 months in and let me tell you, they are locking up really well, you'll get kinks if you use a skinny tight band to put em up. i wouldn't recommend it necessarily, just how i did it, but i have some thick thick vines and i have naturally silky hair so don't worry, they will lock up. ive went weeks without washing and weeks without even letting them down too. washing, lettin em down when you sleep, letting em free, all obviously speeds up the process, but again, they will lock up.

Life Issues Facing Dreads

the point? Most likely. that's why it's kind of a hoot that the post starts off with basically "hey just to let you know, I'm not being exactly how I'm about to be" as if whoever wrote it was being kind and covering our backs or something. If this person goes around 'snipping off peoples dreads on the bus when they are sitting in front of them with scissors'. That does nothing lol. they'll just grow back. If someone snips one of your dreads off like that, give them a hug

Do you think 'elitist' could be the main point here? With globalisation, and everyone picking up things they like from other cultures, people get defensive about what they see as their own cultural territory?

Like the Indigo thing k8ekate - will have to look into that more :)

Thanks Tim. I see where you're coming from, that's really one to think about long term. (Ha, ha, I wouldn't mess with a 90 year old Shaolin, or an 8 year old for that matter!)

Oh my God !! my beard..!!

General Questions

i had a beard for almost 2 years before throwing it away, although i did separate it every so often, i say quit making excuses and just tell it how it is.. you want a gnarly beard! they'll get over it.. look at SE beard, it obviously at some point decided to start tangling. You can use all that stuff in the facial hair, idk about you but mine got pretty oily and full of residue pretty quickly and just used selsun blue, which i found is good if you have flaky skin and also want hair to lock up, it did wonders in my situation, and then bronners after. Just my 2 cents
