So no palm rolling at all.. Clean every 2-3 days and let em lock check
Please do not take Ognian's advise on Palm rolling, that too will damage your hair and you will have problems a few years down the road. Just ask Baba Fats, a member on here what happened to his due to palm rolling. He is still recovering after 6 years!
Take advice from people with experience. Peace
Hi Zack, here is a picture of Soaring Eagle, if you have not already seen one, no hooks were used on his dreads. No hooks = dreads for life.
Don't crochet hook them too often, if you lock your hair at the roots, your scalp will burn up, your hair willsuffocate and in time it might cause hair loss, so leave them be, and tighten your locks maybe at the end of every month, depending on your hair growth. Also, palm roll them to keep them well and to be honest, you don't need no fancy shmancy dread shampoo, all you need is good care and sulfate free shampoo
Thanks for the advice...I will try to get a pic up so everyone can see.
I already left a comment for you on your page, but also wanted to mention a safe way to help your dreads tighten just a little quicker. Dreadlocks Shampoo sells a Himalayan Sea Salt spray which helps the beginning of the dreading journey, hers has other wonderful ingredients in it and it smells wonderful. You can also create your own using Sea Salt and water. Mix 3 1/2 tablespoons of sea salt to 5 cups water and spray it on your hair, you can also pour the entire bottle on you head if you want. The salt must be rinsed out within two hours though or it can dry out your hair...Sea Salt can be purchased from bulk food stores or from fish aquarium store, they use it for salt water tanks...If you live by the ocean, take a dip in there, just make sure to rinse it out after the 2 hour time.....Peace
Well, you could crochet them. None of us can reach through your monitor and stop you. but just be aware that 1 month is only 1/12 of the way to mature locks. Yup, locks take, on average, a full year to mature. Crocheting will only delay progress, and make your locks take 6+ months longer to mature. And it completely destroys your hair. Crochet hooks are designed for yarn and other thick threads. Not for hair. Every time you stick the hook into your lock, you rip hundreds of hair. And when you pull it back out, you rip hundreds more. This severely weakens your locks. In time they become so weak, that they can snap just under their own weight.
So, be patient. Your locks are still in the baby stage. They will look messy and be loose for another 4-8 months. The only way for them to tighten and mature is to wait it out
