questions on loose hairs, hair breakage, and hair damage
im at almost five months now and i'm starting to be pretty happy with the progress, but had a few questions. i backcombed them, and like most people, i lost a lot of hair in the process and i was wondering if any permament hair damage will result of that. also i dont think i have too much loose hairs, but if i were to tie them with something, is there something besides hemp to rubberband it with?? and i feel like some of my hair has broken off, does anyone else have that happening, i'm not too concerned about it but just want to know where evryone else is at with it. and any thoughts and opinions about my dreads would be greatly appreciated thanks a ton!
yea, i was just being impatient, but i'm happy with my progress so i dont do anything to them anymore
ah they woulda gotten there on there own without the rubbing
im 5 months on the 4th i belive, and i only tip rubbed some because they werent dreaded 3 inches from the thip, anything less than that and i just let them be, i dont want blunted tips, i just dont want for them to have a ton of regular hair on the ends. but i was tip rubbing a ton before i found this site sense then i have done almost nothing to them except hemp wrap a few many thanks!
4 months you?
apple cider vinager any store u go into will have it and why tip rub 1 2 weeks is nothing hahaha and 2 tips are better left undreaded
soaring eagle, the apple viniger you talk about, where do you get that??
reading over it, its not as bad as i made it out to be, its more for informational purposes, i did lose hair, but not a significant amount, and the loose hairs i said could have been breakage might actually be new hair, not sure, but i dont palm roll, i do a bit of tip rubbing because my tips were not dreaded at all after about two weeks, but other than that i keep them seperated and just let them do there thingand mia, mine were loopy for a while, then i hemp wrapped them for a bit and it helped a ton! how old are yours?
well backcombing permenantly pries up the cuticles (no matter how gentle you are the comb going backwards against the grain does it) so the hair shaft inner laters are exposed and more easily dammaged by chemicals etc
now cold water and acidic stuff likke vinger should close healthy cuticles but damaged ones probly not but sure cant hurt to try
the hair isdammaged not destroyed but is more easily dammaged further
I backcombed as well. & am having similar concerns. your dreads look awesome! mine are a loopy mess but i am loving them nonetheless. goodluck
peace&love,
mia
