Soaring-eagle, Since my dreads are fairly new, do I need to just chill and eventually the root portion will tighten up? Or should I be tightening them up as my hair grows?

I separated them myself, then I twist and ripped.. after a short section was done, I'd back comb it. Then I used a crochet hook to make like a hair cage around it all. A few weeks in, 2 little ones congod together, so I twisted them together and crocheted them together.
