Welcome. Eagle's right about the retwisting bit. You never actually need to do it. Every 4 months isn't as bad, but it can still cause some problems in later years. Hopefully you're not doing it tight enough that you can see your scalp showing between the sections

Baking soda wash ratio: 1/2 cup of BS to 5 cups water, pour over wet head and leave on for minimum of 10 minutes to exfoliate the scalp without scrubbing ( 10-20 minutes is good) Rinse this out well
Now you will follow it with an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse. Mix 1-2 capful of ACV to 5 cups of water, pour over head, rinse out at the one minute mark. This naturally balances back the PH level in the hair and scalp. Without using this you will get dry hair and scalp and dandruff
Finish off with a cold head rinse, as cold as you can take
