I doubt 1 crochet use was devastating unless its very tight
if it is very tight, use light conditioning (aloe (pure) or jojoba or argon oils very lightly) to start to loosen them up
contrary to popular belief looser starter dreads dread wa faster then very tight ones
so don't worry if they gt so loose they seem close to falling apart
at that point stop conditioning and start using something like the liquid dreadlockshampoo.com shampoos and they will start to dread normally, and much more quickly
