Welcome to the community Mama Meggo and my fellow Canuck. Greetings to beautiful New Brunswick. You have now begun a wonderful journey, with many changes in the next few months. I also started mine with the twist & rip method, and posted tips that may help you along the way: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/group/dreadlocksinaustralia . Below is a map so you can see what your water type is. I think you will be able to use just about any dread shampoo or bar out there. But we find the best ones on the web site www.dreadlockshampoo.com . They work fantastic in all type of water and smell heavenly too! Enjoy your journey the wild ride that come with it....If you have any questions, just ask, we will all help you......peace
