yea stff like that can fool you into thinking its helping but at a severe cost. just like wax that fools you into thinking it makes your dreads mature in a month but really its just gluing them together and hardening. the best thing for dreads is just wash and go
glad you figured that out after only 2 uses
many use the hook every few weeks to fix the damage they caused last time they used it and some don't learn even after dreads start to break off

I've only ever done maintenance using a crochet hook twice, the first time when my dreads were natural it really seemed to "help" and gave me the dreads I imagined I wanted. But the second time I crocheted them a little less than a year later, it seemed to do more damage then good, since then I've just been letting them do their own wild and free thing, loops and all
welcome but i would throw away the crochet hook! its 1 of the worse things you can do to dreads..and only 1 use of the hook can take 3 years to recover from
just toss it in the trash and never use it again
