we have maybe a couple dozen parents with kids who dreaded many younger then yours

ive nevrr palm rolled once in my lifethe reason ppl do it is wax wax prevents movement needed to dread do palm rolling forces movement and crams hair into wax molding it into dread like candles but its pointless when your just letting your hair dread
